The Center for Continuing Studies works cooperatively with the student, the correctional institution and their designated education officer to provide a quality educational experience.

The Center’s Services include:

• Assisting with admissions, registration, billing, and graduation paperwork.
• Working with third-parties who are providing financial assistance.
• Providing written course materials including the syllabus and other related items.
• Advising and program planning.
• Facilitating communication with faculty as needed.

Students are responsible for:

• Tuition and fees.
• Books and materials.
• Developing a study schedule and staying on track with coursework.
• Maintaining appropriate and timely communication with instructors and CCS office staff regarding coursework.

*Most incarcerated students take courses on a part-time basis (1 to 3 courses per semester) and complete their degrees at their own pace.

Felony Career Restrictions

In Minnesota there are laws restricting specific career paths for students with particular criminal offenses (i.e. it may be difficult to obtain a license for drug counseling if you were convicted of a drug offense).  For a complete list of felony career restrictions in Minnesota, please see the attachment: Felony Career Restrictions (pdf)
