Social Work Supervision

Is your agency able to provide the necessary supervision to new social workers?

Engaged in professional development activities within your organization?

In a leadership/management role and seeking leadership training?

Our workshop is designed for Licensed Social Workers who are interested in providing the mandated social worker supervision.  The Minnesota Board of Social Work requires that licensing supervisors complete 30 hours of supervision-specific training and earn six supervision-specific continuing education hours each licensing period.

Every licensed social worker is required to complete supervision upon becoming licensed and engaged in social work. The length of supervision depends on a worker's employment status and generally runs at least two years and up to four years with 4-8 hours of supervision per month.

St. Cloud State's 30-hour, supervision-specific training covers:

  • General approaches to supervision
  • Dimensions of the supervision relationship
  • Delivery of supervision
  • Professional responsibilities of supervisors
  • Promoting the specialty of supervision through training and research

Why should you participate?

30 hours of continuing education units

  • 16 hours live online via zoom
  • 14 hours online content/interaction (self-directed)

Qualifies and prepares Licensed Social Workers to supervise new social workers

Testimonials:

I want to thank you both for the 30 hour training that was so well organized. I learned so much and appreciated all the additional information provided. I feel like it been a long time that I have been able to be part of a collective group that had many experiences and knowledge about our profession.

I have completed the course work that also had me thinking about so many things about how staff are viewed.
