Understanding the Project Management Body of Knowledge - Level 2
Who Should Attend:
Project Managers and others who manage projects.
This course is designed for those who want to get a deeper understanding of the Project Management Body of Knowledge. If you already have a basic knowledge of project management or have attended the Essentials of Project Management workshop, this course is right for you. This workshop will be of added professional value to project managers, functional managers and executives with project responsibility, project management office staff and anyone who has lead projects. This course offers 16 hours of Project Management education. Project Management education is required to sit for various certification exams such as the CAPM® or PMP®
If you have a 4 year degree and want to pursue a career in the field of project management and do not have the required 4500 hours of practical experience in leading projects, then CAPM would be a good exam to take. It will help you to initiate your career path in project management. Another requirement for CAPM and PMP exams is certain number of hours of education in project management – 23 hours for CAPM and 35 hours for PMP.
The classes we offer here, will qualify you towards the education requirement – 16 hours for a 2 day workshop. With two workshops you can obtain 32 hours of education and will help you to qualify for CAPM certification exam. You can pursue PMP exam once you gain the practical experience.
Overview:
A body of knowledge defines the discipline and serves as a guide on the basis of which training programs, curriculum, certification exams, etc. are developed. The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a foundation for understanding the knowledge areas and process groups related to managing projects.
Understanding the Project Management Body of Knowledge will provide individuals with grassroots on the different knowledge areas that define the discipline of Project Management. Although this class is not focused on preparing for the PM certification exams, it is expected that the individuals will gain a better understanding of the PMBOK Guide (more than 400 page book) which can further help in preparing for a career in project management. Practicing project management personals will learn specific skills to manage projects and people more effectively and efficiently.
