Jewish Life and World HistorY

Students will be taught how to comprehend topics and examples of Jewish life found within standard world history curricula through essays, commentaries to their lesson plans, class discussion, and presentations. Topics included in this course:

  • The biblical Israelite period
  • Judaism and Christianity - common roots and separation, along with medieval Judaism/Spain and the Inquisition
  • American Jewish life and contemporary American Jewish life
  • Holocaust history, Israel, and World Jewry

Meet your Presenter:


Dr Joseph A EdelheitDr. Joseph A. Edelheit, D Min, DD, Director and Professor of Religious and Jewish Studies at SCSU from 2003 to present.  Dr. Edelheit has also served as the senior Rabbi at Temple Israel, Minneapolis, from 1992 - 2001.  Dr. Rabbi Edelheit has authored several essays and chapters dealing with interfaith relations.  He was the cofounder of the Downtown Interfaith Forum in Minneapolis.
