and Carol Vick Scholarship
Awarded
to a declared Communication Studies major who qualifies as a non-traditional
student (age 25 or older) with a cumulative GPA of at least
3.00.

and Alice Wick Scholarship
Awarded
to junior and senior declared Communication Studies majors with a cumulative
GPA of at least 3.00, who show leadership potential .
The committee will be awarding two.

A letter of support (focusing on leadership potential) from a faculty
member in Communication Studies, or other mentor/supervisor in the student's
leadership context.
An essay on leadership written by the applicant.
Art
and Barbara Grachek Scholarship
Awarded to
a Communication Studies major or minor enrolled in a SCSU study
abroad program with a GPA of a least 3.00, who intends to return
to SCSU after completing their study abroad experience.

An essay on what the applicant plans to accomplish in the study abroad
program and how this experience will help the student achieve personal,
professional, and educational goals.
Faculty
and Alumni Scholarship
Awarded
to Communication Studies majors and minors with a cumulative GPA of at
least 3.25, on the basis of academic achievement and talent
in communication studies (*see definition of talent below).

Ray
Pederson Memorial Scholarship
Awarded
to an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, who
shows talent in communication studies and financial need (talent is the
primary evaluative criteria - financial need is secondary). The central
focus of the scholarship is on activity based practice and application
of communication knowledge. Recipients must be able to show documentation
of "talent" in communication studies in or out of the classroom. (*see
definition of talent below).

Talent is defined as: Activities which exhibit creativity, commitment,
and critical thinking in the field of communication studies and may include
(but are not limited to) graphic arts, performing arts, public speaking,
public relations, advertising, etc. Methods of documentation may include
(but are not limited to) videotapes, letters of recommendation, portfolios,
examples of outstanding academic work, graphics, etc. Students may not
submit more than two pieces of documentation.
Molly Young Marinovich Internship Scholarship
During the semester of their internship, all interns must notify the Communication Studies Internship Director in writing of their intent to apply. Within three weeks following the end of the internship semester, the intern is to submit to the selection committee:
Formal letter of application explaining why the internship merits consideration for the award, noting both major accomplishments in the job assignment and major accomplishments in applying communication knowledge. Other documentation which the student selects to support the application, such as letters from the supervisor, staff or coworkers, may also be included.
