Awarded to an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, who shows talent in communication studies and financial need (talent is the primary evaluative criteria - financial need is secondary). The central focus of the scholarship is on activity based practice and application of communication knowledge. Recipients must be able to show documentation of "talent" in communication studies in or out of the classroom. (*see definition of talent below).

* Talent is defined as: Activities which exhibit creativity, commitment, and critical thinking in the field of communication studies and may include (but are not limited to) graphic arts, performing arts, public speaking, public relations, advertising, etc. Evidence may include (but are not limited to) video tape, letters of recommendation, portfolios, examples of outstanding academic work, graphics, etc. Students may not submit more than two pieces of documentation.
Awarded to a full-time student who is majoring in Communication Studies and pursuing a career in organizational development or business communication. The Committee will award one $1,000 scholarship yearly. Application requirements include:

Awarded to students choosing to participate in the SCSU Forensics (Speech & Debate) Program for the school year. Scott Wells, Director of SCSU Forensics, will award several scholarships (up to $300 per semester per student). Criteria for the award include past participation in high school speech activities (speech, debate), academic promise, and financial need.
