Primary research/study interests
Conflict management and mediation, experiential learning theory, internships, education abroad, professional and organizational development in higher education, mentoring (in both the profit and nonprofit sectors), story telling, applied organizational communication.
Served as Academic Director British Studies Program, Summer 2011. Previous experience in teaching, studying, and/or managing programs abroad in the following countries: Japan, England, Denmark, South Africa, Guatemala and Kenya. Conducted research in conflict management in England and Denmark; developed coursework addressing communication and relationship development in Japan. Collected traditional stories in all of these countries, as well as in Ireland and Great Britain.
Recipient of the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) Pioneer of the Year Award, 2006; NSEE Exemplary Leader Award, 1999; Ohio University Department of Education Distinguished Alumni Award, 1985; Central States Speech Association Outstanding Young Teacher Award, 1984.
