Information Media Minor
The Information Media minor offered by the Center for Information Media at St. Cloud State University focuses on teaching students to analyze problems, access information and effectively share the results of their work. As you earn this minor, you will learn skills in working with microcomputers, in staff training, in designing multimedia presentations in webpage development, and in producing video. Students who earn the minor find value in the hands-on technology opportunities in the program.
The Information Media minor gives you the opportunity to focus your study specifically on the techniques and theories of information production, gathering, and presentation. The skills you learn in this minor complement many majors and prepare you to share with your colleagues the information everyone needs to succeed.
The Information Media Minor and Employment
Employers are concerned with getting the most for their hiring dollars and with finding employees who bring a variety of skills and talents to their organizations. Business managers increasingly are bringing more employees into the decision-making process. As they do so, they look for people who can effectively communicate the ideas and concepts that help the business succeed.
The Information Media minor at SCSU teaches you many of the communication presentation skills these employers need. In this program, you learn to access information and assess its value. By earning the Information Media minor, you develop high levels of information management skills that will increase your worth to employers. These skills are critical to your professional, academic, and personal pursuits.
The Information Media minor enhances the quality of the skills you develop in your major. As you learn specialized theory and practice in your major, you learn how to present and use that information while studying for an Information Media minor.
