Digital Forensics and Ethics class tours Medtronic's Computer Forensics Lab

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

On Thursday, February 14th, Dr. Mark Schmidt, Director of the CIAS, had the opportunity to take his Digital Forensics and Ethics class on a tour of Medtronic’s Computer Forensics Lab.  The students were able to meet the Medtronic forensic and e-discovery experts, as well as the Information Risk Management Director and the Vice President and Chief Counsel of Employment Law at Medtronic.  The students were given access to the forensic lab, as well as the evidence room, and were shown some of the tools and procedures that the examiners use in their day-to-day operations.  The students were also informed about the strict legal requirements that Medtronic is held to, and how having an unbiased and professional computer forensics lab aids them in meeting those requirements.
