Chemistry Club
Magic Show 2009
On Saturday, October 31st, the Chemistry Club hosted a Halloween Magic Show at the St. Cloud Library.
It was a full house with over 60 children and their parents in attendance. Fifteen members of the Chemistry Club, along with Dr. Petitto, Chem Club Advisor and faculty member of the Chemistry Department, and Jeff Stobb, College Laboratory Specialist for the Chemistry Department, performed several magical experiments.
The children were given the opportunity to get hands-on experience by doing such things as making slime, writing secret messages, and making butterflies using chromatographic techniques.
Judging by the smiles on the children’s faces and the loud applause, the event was a huge success!
In fact, one of the participants took the time to express her gratitude in the following email:
My son, Parker and I just wanted to let you know what a WONDERFUL job you all did at the "magic show" on Halloween. We enjoyed it so much!
It means the world to us to have functions like this to attend. Being a college student and single mom, things like this that are put on for kids at no cost really make a difference.
You all worked so well with the kids and I just want you to know how much you are all appreciated.
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
Rachel & Parker
