CHEM 131
Must have an ACT math subscore of 21 or higher; or have completed Math 070 or Math 193 with a C- or better; or a score of 70 or higher on the ACCUPLACER EA exam (Elementary Algebra).
Higher level acceptable MATH classes: Math 072, 112, 113, 115, 211, 212, 221, 222 and 325.
CHEM 141
Must have received a passing grade in CHEM 131 or a passing grade on the CHEM 141 placement exam.

CHEM 160
Must have an ACT math subscore of 21 or higher; or have completed Math 070 or Math 193 with a C- or better; or a score of 70 or higher on the ACCUPLACER EA exam (Elementary Algebra).
Higher level acceptable MATH classes: Math 072, 112, 113, 115, 211, 212, 221, 222 and 325.
CHEM 210
There is no placement exam to get into Chem 210. The new prereqs are:
Must have completed CHEM 160 with a C or better; or an ACT math subscore of 23 or higher; or have completed Math 072 with a C- or better; or a score of 50 or higher on the ACCUPLACER CLM exam (College Level Math) or a score of 16 or higher on the Calculus Readiness test.
Higher level acceptable MATH classes: Math 112, 113, 115, 211, 212, 221, 222 and 325
Registration Instructions
To register for the CHEM 141 exam or the ACCUPLACER exam, visit the SCSU Placement Testing web site. You will see a calendar indicating the available testing dates. Follow the instructions on the page to register for your placement exam.
There is no charge to take the exam the first time. The exam will be graded as quickly as possible, and the results entered into the registration system.
