Early Childhood Education Licensure - Bachelor of Science

The Child and Family Studies major prepares students to work in various early childhood settings and in Kindergarten through third grade classrooms. Students will learn about child development and methods for engaging in early childhood learning. CFS students participate in a number of field experiences developing skills in designing lesson plans, tutoring, and assessing young children. Students will develop skills and competencies needed for working with parents, families, and community agencies.

-Be sure to take three diversity courses. CFS 260 may be used as one of these and will count as Goal 8 and can be double counted as a major requirement. One of the diversity courses must be a Racial Issues Class.

-The final two semesters of the program are devoted to methods classes and student teaching with one semester focused on Early Childhood and the other on K-Grade Three. The first part of the semester students will take methods classes and then move into student teaching for the secong part of the semester.
