TEACHING
Instructor: St. Cloud State University, Department of Counselor Education and Educational
Psychology.
Full instructional responsibility for the preparation and
presentation of the course entitled "Measurement and
Evaluation." The goal of this course is to provide students
with an overview of the principles of measurement and evaluation
within the classroom. Emphasis is placed upon the use of statistical
procedures in describing test scores and the development of
skills in writing and developing classroom tests.

presentation of a course entitled, "Human Growth and
Development." The goal of this course is designed to
provide an overview of stages of human development and psychological
theories of development.

Factors in Counseling." This course is designed to examine
the medical and biological factors related to counseling including
etiology, prognosis and methods of treating various disorders.

This course is directed toward assisting counselors and other
social service professionals to become aware of issues involved

skill identification, lifestyle evaluation, value identification,
and the transition into the world of work.

Group Counseling." This course is a core psychology course
designed to examine group behavior within a therapeutic setting
and to instruct the students in counseling skills that can
be applied in a group setting. Students are allowed to apply
these skills in a group setting while being monitored by the
instructor.

Interviewing." This course is an experientially based

It is primarily designed to enable students to study diversity issues in the work place and how diversity can enrich organizational effectiveness.

for students enrolled in an Organizational and Communications

This course is designed to explore systems theory and its use in organizational management. Emphasis is placed on organizational development and enhancement of effectiveness through utilizing systems theory.
Instructor: St. John's University, Department of Psychology. Full instructional responsibilities for the preparation and presentation of three sections of a course entitled, "Group Dynamics." This course is designed to teach group dynamic skills to students from a variety of academic backgrounds which include psychology, sociology, communications, and business Emphasis is placed upon examining group behavior, learning basic interpersonal skills and decision-making processes that would enable students to function effectively in a variety of settings.
Instructor: The University of Iowa, Division of Counselor Education. Full instructional responsibility for the preparation and presentation of the course "Making a Vocational and Educational Choice." This course is directed toward students who are uncertain about educational or vocational goals. Special emphasis is directed toward the vocational/educational choice process, self-evaluation of values, skills, interests, and exploration of work sites.
Co-Lecturer: The University of Iowa, Division of Counselor Education. Shared equally in the preparation and presentation of a class entitled, "Job Placement in Vocational Rehabilitation." This course is designed for master's level counseling students and specifically focuses on client counselor and employer responsibilities in the process of obtaining appropriate employment for people with disabilities.
Co-Lecturer: The University of Iowa, Division of Counselor Education. Shared equally in the preparation and presentation of a class entitled, "Role of the Private Practitioner in the Rehabilitation Process." This course was specifically designed for masters level rehabilitation counseling students to introduce the role and function of the private-for-profit counselor within the Workers' Compensation system.
Co-Lecturer: The University of Iowa, Division of Counselor Education. Shared equally in the preparation and presentation of lectures on the "Allen Ivey Micro Counseling Model." This course was designed for nontraditional graduate students enrolled in a Saturday and evening program. Program objectives were to introduce students to basic counseling and interpersonal communications skills as they translate into multidisciplinary orientations.
Guest Lecturer: The University of Iowa, Division of Counselor Education. Presented lectures on a variety of topics in the Department of Counselor Education. Topics included: vocational and educational aspects of disability, Rehabilitation counseling, chronic pain management, assessment of disability and special populations, counseling for related professions, and the role of the counselor in the vocational/educational planning process.
CLINICAL PRACTICE
Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Clinical Supervisor: Pain Rehabilitation Services, St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN. August, 1990 to present. In this capacity I provide supervision, therapeutic counseling, evaluation, and treatment services to patients within an outpatient comprehensive pain rehabilitation center. Specific duties include: individual and group psychotherapy, family counseling, pain coping skills training, psychological test interpretation and evaluation, job analysis and return-to-work liaison services for injured workers, department research and analysis, supervision of students in practicum settings, and consulting with various hospital departments on behavioral medicine strategies for rehabilitation.
Psychological Assessment: Associated Psychological Services. Service designed to provide psychological, vocational, and chemical dependency expertise to clients referred from the Division of Rehabilitation Services, and to identify significant emotional, behavioral, and vocational problems that may impinge upon vocational rehabilitation efforts. In addition, to provide diagnostic information and programming implications for clients being evaluated for eligibility for rehabilitation services.
Counseling Practicum: Spine Diagnostic and Treatment Center, The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Provided personal and vocational counseling as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team for an in-patient Chronic Pain Management program. Specific duties of clinic treatment to include: vocational assessment, educational and vocational plan development, and research in the evaluation of treatment outcomes in chronic pain management. Received supervision in the use of coping skills, work hardening, psychological evaluations, and functional skills assessments as they pertain to pain management.
Counseling Practicum: National Rehabilitation Consultants. Provided comprehensive rehabilitation counseling and evaluation services to work with injured individuals within the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Insurance System. Specific duties included case referral and eligibility determination, medical case management, educational/vocational plan development and implementation, job placement and modifications, employer relations and case reporting. Also received instruction and supervision in a 600-hour practicum.
SUPERVISION
Clinical Internship Supervisor: Pain Rehabilitation Services, St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Minnesota. In this capacity, I provide psychotherapeutic supervision and training to masters-level rehabilitation counseling students from St. Cloud State University for a 600-hour practicum. In addition, I serve as a rotation site supervisor for an A.P.A. approved Ph.D. internship program also at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Practicum II supervisor: Division of Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program, the University of Iowa. Provided counseling supervision to masters-level rehabilitation and community counseling students in an advanced practicum setting. Supervision included: individual and group supervision on counselor style and methods, enhanced and integrated counseling skills through modeling and client tape review, provided on-site evaluation with agency and school personnel, and held sole responsibility for student evaluation and grade assignment.
Practicum I Supervisor: Division of Counselor Education Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program. The University of Iowa. In this capacity I provided counseling supervision to masters-level rehabilitation counseling students in their initial counseling experience. Supervision included individual and group supervision of counselor methods in a community-based practicum setting, skill development through assessment, and evaluation of video and audio taped counseling sessions, and student evaluations and grade assignment.
INTERNSHIP
Division of Counselor Education, Oakdale Security Center,
Oakdale, Iowa.
Provided vocational counseling and consulting expertise in
the development and implementation of a new vocational assessment
unit for the Iowa Prison System. Duties included the design
and implementation of a vocational aptitude and interest assessment
unit utilizing the General Aptitude Test Battery, and the
Strong Campbell Interest Inventory, client testing, case reporting,
and the development of vocational plans for inmates entering
the Iowa Penal System.
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
St. Cloud State University, Department of Counselor Education. Assisted in the research, development, construction and implementation of a research project designed to measure secondary school counselor burnout in central Minnesota. Also served as a liaison person on behalf of the Division of Counselor Education and masters-level rehabilitation counseling students.
