General Resources

These resources are useful for all types of differently abled students but many are geared toward those with physical disabilities.

  • DisabilityInfo.gov Excellent site provided by the U.S. government. Information about your employment rights, gain access to job bank and resume-building sites, and learn about work incentives for Social Security recipients and job accommodations. Links are also included relating to working for the government, vocational rehabilitation, welfare-to-work, veteran employment.
  • Americans With Disabilities Act Comprehensive resource for information on the Americans With Disabilities Act.
  • Entry Point is a program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) offering outstanding internship opportunities for students with disabilities in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, and some fields of Business.
  • GettingHired.com National employment and networking portal that connects job seekers with disabilities with employers committed to hiring them.
  • AIRS Job Board Directory - Disabled Individuals Lists both free and pay-to-post job boards in this field.
  • National Business and Disability Council Post your resume and search for jobs.
  • Disabled Business Persons Association A nonprofit organization. Services include: Personal Business Advisor; Business Plan and Financial Assistance Packaging; Market and Product Research Marketing; Advertising and Public Relations; Presentation and Proposal Documentation; and more.
  • Job Accommodation Network The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the employability of people with disabilities.
  • JAN's Document Center View all documents surrounding the Americans with Disabilities Act. Know your rights in the job market, the meaning of "reasonable accommodation" and what to do if you are a victim of job discrimination.
  • Equal Opportunity Publications Publisher of the magazine, CAREERS & the disABLED, to which you can subscribe, EOP also offers a resume bank as well as career fairs for the differently abled.
  • The National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange (NCDE) Helps persons with disabilities interested in studying, teaching, conducting research, interning or volunteering abroad to find exchange programs, as well as any disability-related accommodation and accessibility information needed to make the international experience a success.
  • Career Opportunities for Students with Disabilities A consortium composed of large and small universities, well-known national employers and US Government agencies focused on the career employment of college graduates with disabilities. Best features include profiles of featured employers, employees and students and their membership directory which can be a resource for persons seeking contact information for COSD members in their area or field of work.
  • DisABLED Person Web site offers students an extensive job board and resources such as blogs, graduate section, news, and links to other disability web sites.
