Hockey Camps
2008 SUMMER HOCKEY SCHOOL
July 13-18, 2008
General Information:
Participants receive a comprehensive hockey experience complete with individual skill development for goalies, defense and forwards. Conditioning, drills, video breakdown, game situations and scrimmages are all designed to help players develop to their maximum potential.
On-Ice:
The “On-Ice” program will include conditioning, powerskating, stick handling, shooting, passing, receiving, checking (except for squirts), team-play, and specialties. There will be morning and afternoon sessions that provide individual instruction for all positions with evaluation in basic skill areas. There will also be evening scrimmages for all campers. On Friday afternoons, games will be played that are open to the public. A written evaluation of each player’s progress and skill development will be provided at the conclusion of the summer school.
Off-Ice:
The “Off-Ice” program will include classroom instruction on all phases of the game, indoor and outdoor hockey exercises and supervised recreational activities such as softball, soccer, indoor rock climbing, and swimming.
Facilities:
The SCSU Summer Hockey School is held at the National Hockey Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University. This facility features two Olympic sheets of ice under one roof. All participants will have a locker room to store their equipment as well as use of basketball courts, softball fields, soccer fields, pool and weight room.
Coaching Staff:
Boys Camp Staff
The St. Cloud State University Summer Hockey School consists entirely of licensed teachers who coach college or high school hockey in the state of Minnesota. All are enthusiastic educators who genuinely want to see the players improve their skills. The nucleus of the staff consists of St. Cloud State University Huskies coaching staff: Eric Rud and Mike Gibbons. In addition, other outstanding, successful coaches will participate as guest instructors. Current players of the St. Cloud State team along with individuals who have worked with the camp in the past will serve as counselors.
Eric Rud- AssisAssistant Coach
St. Cloud State University 2005-present. Prior to St. Cloud State Eric served as an assistant coach at Colorado College during the 2004-2005 season. Eric was also an assistant coach with the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders of the USHL. Eric is a graduate of Colorado College.tant Coach
Assistant Coach, St. Cloud State University 2007-present. In his coaching career that spans more than 25 years, Gibbons has had the opportunity to coach at all levels of the game including high school, juniors, college and professional.
Sample day:
8:30 - 9:00 Breakfast (Residents)
9:15 - 10:00 Off Ice Training
10:30 - 11:45 Ice Time
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch
1:15 - 1:45 Classroom
2:00 - 3:00 Recreation (Swimming, Street Hockey, Etc.)
3:30 - 4:45 Ice Time
5:00 - 6:00 Dinner
6:30 - 7:45 Ice Time
Camp Registration Information:
Resident Plan: $420/ Week-
Includes lodging Sunday through Friday afternoon and Monday morning through Friday afternoon meals.
Players stay in modern resident halls and all meals are served at Garvey Commons located on the SCSU
campus. Resident campers will also be offered an additional evening ice for scrimmages.
Day Plan: $360/ Week-
Includes lunch with activities from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Day plan begins with ice time on Sunday night. Day campers will also be offered an additional evening ice for scrimmages.
Registration Information:
To enroll, fill out the registration form and return by June 27, 2008. Register early as only a specific number of players per position will be allowed in any one session.
A deposit of $100 must accompany each registration. The balance is due upon reporting to the hockey
school. Refunds will be permitted up to June 27, 2008; however, a $25 service charge will be withheld on all
refunds. Notification of acceptance and complete camp information will be sent to you upon receipt of your deposit and registration form.
