Summer Basketball Day Camp
July 7-11, 2008
General Information:
The day camp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball through individual and group drills. Skill tests will be performed daily utilizing the fundamentals worked on during camp. The camp begins on Monday July 7 and concludes on Friday July 11. Awards will be given out at a special ceremony on Friday July 11 at 12:00pm in the Halenbeck Hall main gym, parents are encouraged to attend.
Eligibility
All boys and girls who have completed grades 3-9 during the 2007-2008 school year, can attend this camp.
Equipment
Campers must provide their own shorts, T-shirts, and shoes for the daily activity.
Insurance
All campers must carry their own insurance. SCSU will not be responsible for injuries sustained at camp.
An athletic trainer will be available at all times.
Coaching Staff:
Kevin Schlagel - Head Coach
Kevin is in his 11th season as head coach with St. Cloud State University. Before he became head coach, Kevin spent 17 seasons as an assistant coach at SCSU. His career started as a player at SCSU and following his graduation Kevin became the head basketball coach at Shellsburg High School in Iowa for three years. In 1980 he returned to SCSU as an assistant coach and 2007-2008 is his 29th season with the program. Kevin is a native of Rush City, Minnesota.
Matt Reimer- Assistant Coach
Matt is in his 10th season as a full-time assistant coach. Reimer served two seasons as a graduate assistant before becoming a full-time assistant. Prior to SCSU, Matt served as an assistant coach at New London-Spicer High School for four seasons. He graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he played basketball for two years. Matt is a native of Elkader, Iowa.
Cory Schlagel- Assistant Coach
Cory is in his 4th season as an assistant coach with the Huskies. Cory served as a graduate assistant coach his first two seasons. Before SCSU Cory taught mathematics at Rush City High School, where he was also the assistant girls basketball coach and assistant baseball coach. He is currently a teacher in the Albany school district.
The Staff
The remainder of the staff consists of area high school coaches as well as college players that serve as counselors.

8:45 - Individual Shooting
9:00 - Group Instruction
10:30 - Daily Competition
11:00 - Games
12:00 - Lunch
1:00 - Individual Shooting
1:30 - Group Instruction
2:30 - Games
Registration Information:
The fee for the camp is $125.00 for each child. This fee includes a T-shirt, noon lunch Monday - Thursday, and awards.
Registration deadline is June 27, 2008; a $25 service charge will be withheld on all refunds.
