Mississippi River - Beaver Islands Canoe Route
Sunday, February 5, 2012
Good News!
We have been involved with the City of St. Cloud Parks & Recreation Department to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities along the Mississippi River Corridor. Projects have included development of multiple use trails and boat launch at River Bluffs Regional Park just downstream from the Beaver Islands.
This season we are thrilled to have this new access point at River Bluffs Regional Park. Canoeists, kayakers and anglers will now have the opportunity to explore the Beaver Islands stretch of the Mississippi River without the commitment of paddling all the way to Clearwater.
Beaver Islands to River Bluffs Canoe Route
Starting in the Spring of 2012, SCSU Outdoor Endeavors will offer daily shuttles on this 3.2 mile stretch of river. The float is short, spanning 1-2 hours depending on paddler pace, but also offers the opportunity for those interested in the abundant wildlife or world class fishery to take their time and see a part of the Mississippi River much like Zebulon Pike did in 1805.
