2013 SCSU on the Move Wellness Challenge
“Every Minute Counts”
February 11-April 26
Celebration and 5k or 2 mile run/walk Thursday May 2nd
What is the SCSU on the Move Wellness Challenge? An ten-week wellness challenge to help you move more, eat better, feel great and live green.
Grab a goal and own it. When you have a specific goal you are more likely to stick with it. Just saying” I want to lose weight” doesn’t work. Saying,” I am going to work out 4 times this week, pack my lunch and plan 2 healthy dinners this week,” does work! Tracking keeps us moving forward. You are invited to join the 10 week SCSU on the Move incentive program.
The SCSU On the Move Wellness Challenge program includes: fitness workshops, weekly newsletter, snowshoe outings, speaker series workout bag, water bottle t-shirt, free entry to the May 2nd 5k run/walk and prizes!

Deciding whether to join the challenge? Lets us help you. Real stories from real participants.
The Incentive Program gave me the motivation to change my lifestyle. I now am a much more active person and am cognizant of what I am eating. This journey has also led to the discovery of some health issues that I was not aware of. My journey will continue even though the program is ending. I look forward to being more involved with future healthy lifestyle programs as they arise.
-A healthier and happier SCSU employee
I am not much of a “joiner” and rarely participate in group activities such as this. I really needed something to get me back on track to healthier ways, however, so I signed up (mostly for the pedometer). Counting steps really makes me think about how much I move (or not) each day. I am now much better about taking stairs, parking farther away, and making sure that I get in at least 10,000 steps a day. My family helps out, asking me “what am I up to” (in terms of number of steps) and someone is always willing to walk with me if I am falling short. I did attend the nutrition presentation (didn’t learn much that I didn’t already know) and I was able to get to one of the Wednesday walks on time to walk with the group. The rest of the time, I walked on my own. I am still wearing my pedometer even now that the challenge is over. It is a good reminder for me to move! Thanks for the opportunity (and the pedometer)

Ever since I got to the U.S., I gained weight and I knew I have to exercise. However, my motivation dies off after awhile. However, my friend has encouraged me to join SCSU on the move. Initially, I joined with the purpose of getting the free bottles and t shirt. However, I felt that I need to set target, so I did, I aim to exercise 3-4 times a week. Overall, I achieved the goal and of course, I feel more connected with people especially the fitness instructors.
