      Background Information

domeHusky Stadium opened in the fall of 2004.  This multi-purpose facility has seating for 4,198 spectators and is the home of St. Cloud State football, St. Cloud State soccer, Intramural Sports, SCSU Lacrosse Clubs, SCSU Soccer Club, St. Cloud Cathedral High School Football, St. Cloud Technical High School Soccer, Minnesota State High School League Playoffs and some State Tournament Games.

The field and stadium overlooks the scenic Mississippi River and features a state-of-the-art synthetic playing surface along with lights for night play. In the winter months, the field will be covered with an inflatable bubble that provides outstanding practice space for many of the SCSU athletic teams and SCSU's recreation sports programs. In fact, SCSU's softball team (which finished third in the nation in 2004) will host annual indoor softball tournaments in the dome each year.

Other facilities include a top-notch press box (which includes three radio booths and one booth for television), coaches' boxes, President's Suite, concession stands, ticket booths, scoreboard, stadium concourse and bathroom facilities. Below the grandstand, complete locker facilities are available for SCSU's football and soccer teams, along with locker facilities for visiting teams and officials. The facility will also be used by area high school teams for football and soccer games. Husky Stadium is connected to Halenbeck Hall by the new SCSU Student Fitness Center. This facility will offer all SCSU students with a first-class fitness center featuring state-of-the-art fitness equipment including weight training equipment, treadmills and fitness bikes. The facility will also offer two dance/fitness studios and a climbing wall along with office space and classrooms.
