I. Introductions
II. Technology Initiative Funds Update
Kristi distributed hand outs regarding a $515,000 IT allocation this year by the Office of the Chancellor: SCSU Proposals for Office of the Chancellor IT Funding is a comprehensive list of any idea that was submitted during campus discussions. Attachment A is a list of categories the Office of the Chancellor targeted for IT investments. The final category description was not included in the original received from the Office of the Chancellor. A Draft – Principles for IT Project Prioritizations form was also distributed and discussed. The proposals are being discussed with several entities across campus, including at this meeting. A prioritized list with more specific cost estimates will be submitted for report to the Office of the Chancellor.
President Potter has requested measurable outcomes for these projects. Kristi sought feedback how the comprehensive list would fit into the various categories and what some measurable outcomes would be. Based on discussion, there was consensus of the group on the principles and several projects. This topic is on the agenda for the next Faculty Association Meet & Confer.
III. Underserved Students Funds Update
Michael Spitzer offered an update on an Access and Opportunity Grant Proposal. The
committee discussing the proposal regarding how to shape the $800-$1.3 million dollar grant
request includes several individuals from the College of Education, Student Life and
Development, faculty, and other campus individuals. A similar number of individuals from the
School District 742 are also participating as well as St. Cloud Technical College. It does include
a research component. The goal is to encourage students beginning at the junior high level, to
complete high school and ultimately college.
A $530,000 Recruitment and Retention Fund grant was designated by the Office of the
Chancellor to St. Cloud State University for recruitment and retention of first generation
students, students of color, and underrepresented students. Some of the dollars will be for new
or expanded programs while some will be used to cover costs for existing programs.
Carry Forward Policy
During the Higher Learning Commission consultation last year, they noted that St. Cloud State University does not have a formal carry forward policy. A draft policy was distributed for review, comments, and proposed revisions. Discussing this draft policy will be on the agenda for the next meeting.
