Job Title:         The Underground:  Student Manager

Work Area:     The Underground

Supervisor:     Machinery Repair Worker, Atwood Memorial Center

Pay Rate:        $8.00/hour during training/probationary period

                        $9.10/hour after training

Hours:             15-20 hours per week

Building Assistant Commitment:  Required to work a total of 15 hours in the Building Assistant Program

Position Summary:  The Underground Student Manager provides leadership in the areas of day-to-day operations, marketing, employee scheduling in the Atwood Underground.  The Student Manager trains student employees on operations and software, plans and executes marketing plans for the Underground.  The manager also manages special events in the Underground including all aspects of promoting, reservations, and day-of-event activities for birthday parties and special events.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Training employees in a timely fashion in regards to all facets of The Underground, including opening and closing procedures, check in and out procedures, customer’s service policies, game operation, game rules, cleaning, and organizational skills in the underground work area.
  • Work with Machinery Repair Technician to train employees on bowling machine operations
  • Plan and executing marketing activities to promote the activities offered in the Underground to students, the campus community, and the public.  Marketing activities should be conducted using multiple print and electronic methods
  • Coordinate Underground reservations, leagues, tournaments, and birthday parties.
  • Responsible for the general organization of the Underground including completion of inventory and submitting order requests to the Machinery Repair Technician on a weekly basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits and have a minimum GPA of 2.25
  • Minimum of one year commitment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Marketing experience
  • Cash handling experience
  • Management and/or supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in a recreation/event planning/party planning environment
  • Knowledge of St. Cloud State, its programs, and its services
