The Department of Campus Involvement

The Department of Campus Involvement is made up of a wide variety of programs and services that work to connect students, campus and community in a wide variety of ways. The specific areas within the department are as follows:

• Civic Engagement (Atwood 118) - service-learning, volunteering, community service.
• University Program Board (UPB) (Atwood 139) - student-driven program board providing a diverse array of events and co-curricular opportunities for students including speakers, nationally known artists, husky pride and spirit initiatives, live music events, movies and film events, visual arts exhibits, performing arts events, late-night events, and events that showcase the talents of students and other members of the university community.
• Student Organizations (Atwood 160) - registration process, training, resources, adviser support.
• Fraternity and Sorority Learning Communities (Atwood 129,133, 134) - advisement for the fraternities and sororities on campus
• Campus Programs (Atwood 134, 139) - Husky Kick-Off, Lemonade Concert and Art Fair, Family Weekend and other campus-wide programs and initiatives
• Spirit Groups (Atwood 160)- Cheer Teams, Dance Team
• Department Administration (Atwood 118)
• Department Resource Desk (Across from Atwood 139) - Student Legal Services, general department information

Participation in organizations, service, volunteering, events and leadership activities on campus and in the community provides students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, a sense of belonging and civic responsibility. It also connects classroom learning to actual world experiences.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association is the elected voice of all SCSU students.  Students may participate in any of the 10 committees including: Academic Affairs, Campus Affairs, Cultural Diversity, Free Allocation, Finance, Judicial Council, Legislative Affairs, Public Relations, Student Constitution, Student Services, and Urban Affairs.

Atwood Center Council

The purpose of the Atwood Memorial Center (AMC) Council is to serve primarily as an advisory body to the Director of AMC. Its recommendations are given appropriate weight in decisions affecting AMC policies, guidelines, and goals for the use of AMC facilities. Its membership is composed of student and staff representatives from various constituencies, including: Faculty, Alumni, Residence Hall Association, Student Government Association, University Program Board, Graduate Students, Multicultural Student Services, and others.
