GRADUATE ASSISTANT

RECREATION CENTER & OPERATIONS

Position available:                  Graduate Assistant for Recreation Center & Operations
Atwood Memorial Center, St. Cloud State University

Contract period:                     August 18, 2008 – May 8, 2009

Hours:                                     20 per week

Salary:                                    $10,300 per academic year and waiver of out-state tuition differential.  Waiver for graduate (500-600) level credits, up to a maximum of eight graduate credits per semester during the academic year.

Responsibilities:                   

1.    Select, train and supervise the The Underground student desk workers and supervisors.  The Underground is a recreational facility for bowling, billiards, arcade, and table tennis.

2.    Ensure leagues, tournaments and other promotions and special events are planned, marketed and evaluated.

3.    Facilitate staff meetings for The Underground.

4.    Member of Production Team for The Link, the academic planner for the university community.

5.    Responsible for marketing and promotion of The Underground, including but not limited to: website maintenance, direct mail, database administration, etc.

6.    Accompany students to annual Association of College Unions International (ACUI) regional recreation tournament.

7.    Assist Atwood management team as needed with staff training, special projects, and long range planning.

8.    Assist with other special projects that will be determined in conjunction with Associate Director.

Requirements:                     

1.    Bachelor’s degree from any accredited institution and admission to any graduate college at St. Cloud State University.

2.    Extensive experience in student union operations or program management.

3.    Leadership or management experience.

4.    Marketing and promotion experience.

5.    Applicants pursuing degrees in related area of study will be given preference.
