#2 Mavericks Defeat #10 Huskies, 23-9

Mankato, Minn. - In a battle two top 10 ranked teams, the #2 ranked Mavericks of Minnesota State posted a 23-9 victory over #10 ranked St.Cloud State on Friday, Feb. 22 in Mankato. The loss dropped the Huskies record to 13-2 on the season, as SCSU prepares for the upcoming NCAA regional competition at Mankato on March 2.
The Huskies gained a big 4-3 win by Gabe Suarez over #4 ranked Travis Elg at 141-pounds. Suarez entered the bout unranked in his weight class. SCSU's Brad Padgett also gained a 10-6 win over MSU's Ben Becker at 184-pounds, while #8 ranked Nick Wilkes posted a 8-3 win over MSU's Tom Block at 197-pounds.
In another top match, #1 Jason Rhoten of MSU gained a 15-6 win over SCSU's #7 ranked John Sundgren at 157-pounds. At 125-pounds, #3 Nick Smith just got by SCSU's Westy Hanson by a 5-3 tally, and #2 Brady Wilson of MSU had his hands full with SCSU's Chris Schiewe, as he escaped with a 4-0 win at heavyweight.
