II National Tournament…he was named “NSIC Rookie Wrestler of the Year”… “NSIC Wrestler of the Week”… “Iron Man of the Year”… “Dean Weisman Wrestler of the Year”… “Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team”
2007-08: Merritt went 23-3 on the season with 5 falls wrestling unattached…he placed 1st at the Cobber Open…1st at the Dragon Open…2nd at the Husky Open…1st at the Worthington Open…2nd at the Jamestown Open…3rd at the North Country Open…he was named “Red-Shirt Wrestler of the Year” award.
High School: Merritt comes to SCSU from Canby High School…he was a two-time State Champion…he was named to the Wrestling USA scholastic All-America team…he had a career mark of 176-32 including 116 falls.
Personal: Merritt is the son of Jeff and Patricia Merritt…he enjoys flying airplanes, snowmobiling and hunting…he is majoring in recreation and sports management.
