VOLLEYBALL: Dragons Defeat Huskies In Three Sets

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State volleyball (7-23, 3-15 NSIC) was swept by MSU Moorhead (20-9, 10-6 NSIC) in three straight sets by scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-22 on Friday, Nov. 6, in Halenbeck Hall.
St. Cloud State’s senior outside hitter Kristen Stott (Radisson, Sask.) and sophomore middle hitter Erica Beacom (Elkhorn, Neb.) both tabbed a team-high nine kills in the match, while Beacom led with a .269 attacking percentage.
Rookie middle hitter Taylor Beebe (Verona, Wis.) put away eight kills on the evening while Milwaukee, Wis., native Ashley Shields pounded down five kills on the outside. Beebe also added a team-best four block assists while Shields chipped in with four total blocks (1s, 3a).
Lauren Cipperly (Andover) continued with the setting responsibilities for the Huskies, dishing out 27 set assists in the loss. Defensively, sophomore libero Chelsea Nagle (Preston) posted 23 digs, while rookie Sarah Madden (Van Meter, Iowa) added 16 digs and Stott charted 10 digs to her name.

The Huskies will resume action on Saturday, Nov. 7, as SCSU will entertain the Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles for a 5 p.m. match in Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies will be honoring their three seniors before Saturday’s match against Minnesota, Crookston. Those seniors include Alecia Lunde (East Bethel), Kristen Stott (Radisson, Sask.) and Stephanie Coxon (Waukegan, Ill.).
Earlier this season against UMC, the Huskies pulled out a barn-burner of a match against Minnesota, Crookston earlier this season on Sept. 26 in five sets. The Huskies won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-18. The Golden Eagles rallied back to win sets three and four by scores of 25-17 and 26-24. In the fifth and final set, SCSU edged UMC 17-15 for the match victory.
