Bemidji, Minn. -- St. Cloud State volleyball fell to Bemidji State University in four sets on Tuesday, Nov. 3, by scores of 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 14-25 in BSU's Gymnasium.
Kayla Tschida (Holdingford) led the Huskies with her fifth double-double of the season, putting away 12 kills (.229) and 13 digs. The middle hitter continues to lead the Husky squad in kills this season with 305 kills in 29 matches played.
Lauren Cipperly (Andover) posted yet another career-high mark with 41 set assists and the first year also added a career-high 12 digs.
Sophomore Erica Beacom (Elkhorn, Neb.) was a bright spot in the front row, charting a season-high six block assists, while Tschida added four block assists and rookie middle blocker Tayler Beebe (Verona, Wis.) chipped in with a career-high five block assists. Beebe also added 10 kills, which marks her fifth career match with double figure numbers in kills.
Defensively, Chelsea Nagle (Preston) tallied a season second-best 25 digs in the match and added four set assists and two serving aces in the process.
With the loss, SCSU falls to 7-22 overall and 3-14 in the NSIC as Bemidji State defeated the Huskies in both matches this season. BSU improves to 10-17 overall in 2009 and 7-9 in the league.
St. Cloud State will return home for matches against MSU Moorhead on Friday, Nov. 6, and against Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday, Nov. 7. Husky fans, the Huskies will be honoring their three seniors in Alecia Lunde (East Bethel), Kristen Stott (Radisson, Sask.) and Stephanie Coxon (Waukegan, Ill.) before the start of their match against UMC in Halenbeck Hall.
