THIS WEEK’S ACTION: After playing the last four matches on the road and going 1-3 during that stretch, St. Cloud State volleyball will now return home for two league matches in Halenbeck Hall on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, for St. Cloud State’s Homecoming Weekend. SCSU entertains Minnesota Duluth on Friday night at 7:00 pm, and wraps up the weekend festivities with a 5:00 pm match against Bemidji State in Halenbeck Hall.

HUSKY RECORD: St. Cloud State is 6-14 overall and 2-6 in the league.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Huskies bring a 2-5 home mark into this weekend’s action against UMD and BSU in Halenbeck Hall.

UMD UPDATE: Minnesota Duluth brings a perfect 7-0 NSIC mark into the match against St. Cloud State on Friday, Oct. 9. The Bulldogs are 14-3 overall in 2009 and lead the all-time series with the Huskies, 62-37, dating back to the 1969 season.

BSU UPDATE: Bemidji State ranks seventh in the NSIC with a 3-4 mark thus far in 2009. The Beavers are 6-11 overall this season and are currently on a one-match losing streak. St. Cloud State trails the all-time series with Bemidji State, 37-51, dating back to 1973.

TSCHIDA AT THE HELM: Junior Kayla Tschida (Holdingford) led the Huskies this past week against Augustana and No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul, posting 23 kills and a .271 hitting percentage in two matches played. The middle hitter also had two block assists and 23 digs defensively.

DISH ‘EM OUT: Kiersten Mormann, SCSU’s junior setter from Omaha, Neb., dished out 42 set assists in two match played this past week, and added 10 digs and one block assist.

AT THE HELM: St. Cloud State volleyball is coached by Patricia Gerchy (Mickow), and assisted by Aaron Nelson, Danielle Kohut and Lindsay Ashburn. Coaching in her seventh season at SCSU, Gerchy has amassed a record of 69-130 with the Huskies. The veteran coach is 312-390 all-time in 21 seasons of coaching volleyball at the collegiate level.
