The Sarah Madden Story

Before SCSU: Madden hails from Van Meter, Iowa, where she was a four-sport standout student-athlete for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Tigers…lettering four times in volleyball as a 5-8 libero, Madden garnered All-State, All-Conference, All-District and All-County accolades during her prep volleyball career….coached by Mary Beth Scott, Madden helped lead her team to the Raccoon River Conference Championships in 2005 and 2006, and was also a member of the ADMHS squad that qualified for the 2005 Iowa State Tournament…the Iowa native has also had a strong Junior Olympic volleyball career, as she has participated with the Iowa Power Volleyball Alliance program where her teams qualified for the USA Volleyball National Tournament five times…her squads were also Iowa Regional Champions four times and in 2008, her U-17 team charted National Runner-Up honors…a well-rounded athlete, Madden has also participated in softball, basketball and track in high school…she is a four-time letterwinner in both softball and basketball…in softball, Madden is an All-State, All-Conference, All-District and All-County player…her high school teams tabbed conference championships in 2006 and 2007, and they were the Class 3A State Runner-ups in 2007…an All-County basketball player, Madden also tallied two varsity letters in track.

Personal: The daughter of Barry and Sallie Madden, Sarah is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the academic honor roll throughout her high school years…away from the playing field, Madden is a Peer Helper, Big Sister, SAAC member, on the student council, is a Student Ambassador, participates in fine arts and is also the editor of her school’s yearbook…Madden plans to pursue a degree in marketing with a finance minor at St. Cloud State University.
