2009 Season: Was second on the squad with 277 kills on the outside, averaging 2.95 kills per set…put away a career-high 24 kills against Upper Iowa on Sept. 19…garnered six double-doubles this season and posted double-digit numbers in kills 14 times as a junior…is tied for fifth all-time at SCSU with 45 career double-digit kill matches… now has seven career double-double career matches in kills and digs…backstopped the Huskies with a career-best 17 digs against nationally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Sept. 4…in seven matches this season tallied double-digit numbers in digs…posted a season-best four total blocks (1s, 3a) against MSU Moorhead on Nov. 6…ranks 8th all-time at SCSU with a career .947 serving percentage…ranks 14th all-time at SCSU with 866 kills and 11th all-time at SCSU, averaging 2.90 kills per set…totaled 277 kills, two set assists, nine serving aces, 163 digs and 31 total blocks in 2009.
2008 Season: Had 15 double-digit kill matches on the season…went five straight matches from October 11-25 with at least 11 kills…recorded 35 kills at Nanook Invitational…posted season-high eight digs against Minnesota, Crookston on Sept. 27…posted ‘08-best attack percentage against top-ranked Concordia-St. Paul with a .391 mark (11k/2e/23a) on Oct. 4…set career high in blocks with six in 3-0 win over Bemidji State on Oct. 11…recorded season-high 20 kills against Minnesota State on Oct. 18, one off her personal career high.
2007 Season: Shields made an immediate impact on the outside this season as a first year player...appeared in 109 games for the Huskies...was second on the team with 322 kills and her 2.95 kills per game ranked 15th in the North Central Conference...tallied four set assists, three serving aces, 80 digs and 38.0 total blocks in 2007...posted a career/season-high 21 kills at Winona State on Oct. 23...had a career/season-high 14 digs against Valley City State on Oct. 16 in Halenbeck Hall... Shields' career 2.95 kpg rank her 11th all-time at St. Cloud State.
Before SCSU: A two-time all-conference pick and three-time letter winner in volleyball, Shields was coached by Cindi Maier at Whitefish Bay High School…team captain…named her team’s 2006 MVP…led her time in kills, serving aces and blocks throughout her prep career…also a three-time letter winner in basketball…graduated from WBHS in 2007…earned the “Duke Pride” award for Excellence and Leadership on and off the court…member of the 2007 state basketball championship high school team.
Personal: Daughter of Anthony and Christa Shields…honor roll student…says her parents have had the greatest influence on her career…enjoys art, reading, camping, boating and listening to music in her free time.
