St. Peter, Minn. -- Sophomore track and field athlete Jeremy Davis (Champlin Park) won the 400 meter hurdles and placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles, and first year Nish Rubash (New Lisbon, WI) had a third place finish in the high jump to lead St. Cloud State at the 2009 Gustavus Adolphus College Drake Alternativeheld Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.
Davis ran the 400 hurdles in 56.03 and the 100 hurdles in 16.70. Four other Huskies had top five finishes in the meet. Freshman Kevin Andresen (Crystal) placed second in the 800 meter run in 1:57.92. Sophomore Chris Lefler (Foley) placed fifth in the 400 meter dash in 51.52, ninth in the 200 meter dash in 23.60, and was 13th in the 100 meter dash in 11.81. First year William Brenny (Clear Lake) placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 14'7 1/4". Sophomore Hady Cherif (Minneapolis) ran a 15:36.21 in the 5000 meters to place fifth.
On the women's side, Rubash placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4'11". Sophomore Paula Marozas (Rochester) ran the 1500 meter race in 5:07.63 to place fifth. Sophomore Rebecca Kitzman (Verona, WI) placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40'8 1/4", fifth in the discus at 122'9", and eighth in the hammer with a toss of 141'8".
Other finishes include: Lynette Raichle (Owatonna) tenth place in the 100 meter dash in 14.16. Andrea Pfaff (Oakdale) placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 75.43 and seventh in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.55. Crystal Moor (Minneapolis) ran a 20.88 in the 100 hurdles for tenth place. Lindsay Conroy (Clearwater) was 17th in the discus with a mark of 105'11", and 19th in both the shot put (34' 11 3/4") and hammer (121'8").
Kenneday Ewafada placed tenth in the 100 meter dash in 11.76 and 12th on the 200 meters in 23.76. Shawn Onken (Eagle Bend) was 13th in the 200 meters in 23.83 and 15th in the 100 meters in 11.98. Brock Veth (Ham Lake) was 27th in the 200 meters in 25.09. Matt Main (Webster, WI) placed 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.49. In the 5000 meters Sean Gaskell (Esko) was 12th in 15:36.21, Luke Jordan (Maple Plain) 14th in 16:34.52 and Jon Marks (Albertville) was 21st in 17:27.54. David Pieper (Plover, WI) ran the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:50.26 for ninth place. Andrew Fuller (Faribault) was ninth in the pole vault in 13'7 1/4". Christian Berg (Foley) placed 20th in the javelin in 111'11" and 25th iin the discus in 102'11".
Also noted in the Huskies final event at the Drake Relays, the men's 4x100 relay of Gabe Udia, Nick Trisko, Marcus Jenkins, and Michael Graham was disqualified in the finals due to a poor exchange.
