Track & FIELD: Heather Miller in Two Events at NCAA Outdoor Championships

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University junior track and field athlete Heather Miller (Sun Prairie, Wisc.) has qualified to compete in the two events at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, May 21-23 in San Angelo, Texas. The championships will be held at the Legrand Sports Complex on the campus of Angelo State University.
Miller is one of 620 student-athletes to qualify for the outdoor national championships. She automatically qualified to compete in the heptathlon and triple jump. She is ranked fifth in the triple jump heading into the competition with her school record qualifying mark of 39-11.25. Miller is ranked 13th in the heptathlon with her Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) record 4,818 point performance.
Miller will begin her competition on Thursday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the heptathlon, and will continue the multi event at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22. That evening she will compete in the triple jump beginning at 5:15.
Miller is a two-time NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field All-American, as she finished fifth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump in March.
Miller has had an outstanding 2009 season. She won three NSIC outdoor titles in the heptathlon, triple jump and 100 meter hurdles to lead the Huskies to a fifth place conference finish. She was named the NSIC Outdoor Women's Field Athlete of the Year and High Point Performer. During the NSIC indoor season, she won three titles, taking firsts in the pentathlon, triple jump and 55 meter hurdles.
Miller is a 2005 graduate of Columbus High School in Sun Prairie, Wisc.
