The Mitch Bruzik Story

2009: Season highlights include first place shot put (49’5”) result at the St. Olaf Invitational…Beaver Classic earned first place in weight throw (50’4.75”) and second in shot put (49’7.25”)…second place finish at the UW-River Falls in shot put (50’2.5”)… SCSU Open with two top-three finishes: shot put (2nd / 49’2.5”) and weight throw (3rd / 51’1.75”)…competed in NSIC Championships in shot put and weight throw events.

2008: Posted top mark in the weight throw with a 13.95m at the Husky Open to complement a third place mark in the shot (13.88m)…claimed fifth at SCSU Open with 14.79m in the weight throw…ended indoor season with 12th place finish at the NCC Championships in the weight throw (45’1.5”)…Started indoor season with ninth place in the shot (14.41m) and 11th in the weight throw (13.82m) at the Minnesota Open…had near identical result at Jack Johnson Classic with ninth place mark in shot (14.77m) and 10th in the weight throw (14.05m)…grabbed 11th and 16th in those two events at UNI Invite with 14.39m (shot) and 13.65 (weight) tosses…fourth in the shot (48’) at the NCC Outdoor Championships…began outdoor slate with two, top ten finishes at the Bison Open which included; sixth in the shot (13.88m), seventh in the hammer (45.36m) and 15th in the discus (38.64m)…St. Thomas Invite brought two seventh place marks in the shot (44’) and hammer (144’7”)…finished 15th (132’6”) in the hammer and 11th in the discus (131’5”) at the NCC Championships.

2007: Placed sixth at the outdoor championships in the shot put (45’5¼”), 14th in the discus (123’8”), and 11th in the hammer throw (131’7”)…had NCC honor roll mark with fourth place 46’2” shot put at the St. Thomas Invite…also on the honor roll in the hammer throw with eighth place 130’5” throw at the St. Thomas Invite…at the NCC indoor championships placed 10th in the weight throw (45’3¾”) and 12th in the shot put (42’9”).

High School: 2006 graduate Jefferson High School…coached by Ty Granning…won four letters in track & field while also earning All-Conference and MVP honors…also a three-time letter winner on the football field.

Personal: Son of Mark and Donna Bruzik of Alexandria, Minnesota…lists his father as the person with the greatest influence on his career…when not competing he enjoys hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling…majoring in business management and marketing.
