The Kelsey King Story

2009: Indoor season highlight at Iowa State Open 4x400 relay school record (3:58.24) and distance medley relay school record (12:44.92)…two top-five finishes in Pentathlon events (4th / 3139) at MSU Open, (5th/3057) at Super 8 Meet…placed second in two SCSU Open events: 200-meter (26.75) and 60-meter hurdles (9.20)… finished second in 55-meter hurdles (8.63) at Beaver Classic…competed in NSIC Championships 55-meter hurdle (6th / 8.60) and 4X400 meter relay (5th / 4:01.94)…outdoor season highlights include two top finishes in 400-meter hurdles (66.36) at UWRF and UMD North Country (1:04.25)…had fourth place mark in 400-meter hurdles (1:05.22) at the DII Challenge…finished strong at NSIC Championships with third place mark in 100-meter hurdles (14.92) and 400-meter hurdles, fourth in 4x100 meter relay (48.96) and fifth in 4x400 meter relay (4:00.03)…earned All-Conference honors (400 meter hurdles/ 100 meter hurdles).


2008: Posted four top-10 finishes at two events hosted by SCSU…was fourth (9.87) in the 60-hurdles and seventh (1.3m) in the high jump at the Husky Open…had fourth place mark in the 800-meter (2:34.71) and fifth place in the long jump (4.88m) at the SCSU Open…capped off indoor season with eighth place in the heptathlon (2,727 pts.) at the NCC Championships…also marked a ninth place finish in the 60-hurdles (9.82) at the Northwest Open…started outdoor season with two top three finishes; third (3,770) in the heptathlon at the Herschel Neil Heptathlon and second (16.23) in the 100-hurdles at Morris…finished strong at the NCC Championships, earning a third place mark at the heptathlon (4,034), fourth in the 400 intermediate hurdles and ninth in the 100-hurdles (15.62)…ninth in the high jump (1.38m) and eighth (28.93) in the javelin at Morris.

High School: 2007 graduate of Burnsville High School…coached by Joe Walsh…earned four letters in track & field career…team captain and state champion, earned the Iron Woman Award…also garnered one letter in hockey…earned the President’s Award for community service.

Personal: Daughter of Bradford and Linda King of Lakeville, Minnesota…list John Shelden as the person with the greatest influence on her career…greatest sports thrill was making it to the state meet all four years of high school…majoring in mass communications.
