The Hady Cherif Story

2009 Track: Indoor season highlight first place finish at the SCSU Open in 1000 meter run (2:45.06)… placed fifth at MSU Alumni in 1000 meter run (2:47.80)…two third place finishes in the 5000 meter run (15:51.42) at UWRF and (16:15.14) at the DII Challenge…ran 5000 meter run at Indoor and Outdoor NSIC Championships.

2008 XC: Sophomore season...Cherif became the first Husky to gain All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team honors, finishing 10th at the NSIC Championships…member of the 2008 Husky regional team…ran a season best time of 26:27.45 at the NSIC Championships…led the Huskies in five of the six meets in 2008.

2008 Track: Took second place at Husky Open in the 1000-meter (2:48.63) and in the SCSU Open in the 5000-meter (16:26.00)…started outdoor season with fourth place in 5000-meter (16:15.33) at Morris…ended indoor season at NCC Championships with 13th place in 5000-meter (16:26.41)…NCC Outdoor Championships ended with 11th place in the 10,000-meter (34.23.76) and 23rd in the 5,000 (16:30.38).

2007 XC: First year…led the Huskies in the longest race of the season, the 10K North Central Region Championships on 11/3, earning a top-100 finish at 99th place in 34:51.93…placed 41st at the NCC Championships on 10/20 with a career best in the 8K of 27:36.30 for a 41st place finish…began season at the Ron Pynn Invite in Grand Forks, N.D. on 9/14, finishing in 25th with a time of 28:19.00…at the Roy Griak Invite in Minneapolis on 9/29 placed 153rd, crossing the finish line of the 8K in 28:38.00…at 4K Minnesota State Open in Mankato on 10/6 just missed a top-15 finish coming in 0:01 behind teammate Dan Allen in 15th  with a 16th place time of 21:24.

High School: 2006 graduate of St. Louis Park High School.

Personal: Son of Maba and Mahavva Cherif of Minneapolis, Minnesota…says his coaches have had the greatest influence on his athletic career...undeclared on a major.
