The Dan Allen Story
2008: Finished eighth at the NCC Indoor Championships in the mile (4:24.53)…took 10th in the 800-meter (2:03.53)…at the Jack Johnson Minnesota Classic…recorded third place finish in the 1000-meter (2:43.41) and fourth in the mile (4:32.74) at the SCSU Open…crossed the line in 12th in the mile (4:32.93) at the Snowshoe Open…opened outdoor season at Morris with seventh place in 800-meter (2:01.06) and ninth in 1500-meter (4:11.97)…took 12th at Kip Janvrin Open for 4:11.44 1500-meter performance…ended year with eighth place mark in the 1500-meter (4:05.84) and 11th in the 5000 (15:57.41) at the NCC Championships.
High School: 2006 graduate of St. Cloud Cathedral High School…coached by Fred Rupp…four time letter winner and four sport athlete lettering in track & field, baseball, basketball and cross country…lettered twice in track & field while also earning one All-Conference…personal bests were 50.2 (400m), 2:00.1 (800m), 4:24 (1600m), 6’3” (high jump), and 19’5” (long jump)…named All-Conference and All-Area in cross country…best time in the 5K was 16:50…also lettered once each in baseball and basketball…was an Honor Roll student.
Personal: Son of Rick and Kathy Allen of Waite Park, Minnesota…lists high school coach Fred Rupp as the person with the greatest influence on his career…says winning the state team championship in cross country his senior year was his greatest sports thrill…also enjoys video games, skiing, kayaking and jet skiing in his free time…biomedical sciences major at SCSU.
