The Cyrus Raivo Story
2008: Earned mention to NCC Indoor and Outdoor Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll…Earned javelin title (184’6”) at St. Thomas Invite, posting his next best finish there also with a third place mark (144’0”) in the discus…marked a fourth place mark in the javelin at the Bison Open (174’-9.5”)…posted sixth place at Morris in the discus (41.47m)…made three appearances in the indoor season, all in the weight throw, with a sixth place finish (11.92) at the Husky Open and a 16th place showing at the NCC Championships (40’4”)…NCC Outdoors saw him record two 14th place marks in the hammer (133’6”) and the discus (128’5”).
2007: Earned two top-10’s at the NCC outdoor championships, finishing sixth in the javelin (170’4”) and eighth in the discus (135’5”)…also finished 14th in the hammer throw (123’8”) at the NCC Championships…earned three top-10’s at the St. Thomas Invite placing second in javelin (151’1”), third in discus (131’8”) and ninth in hammer (121’1”)…third in javelin (153’5”) and fifth in discus (136’4”) at Drake alternative…recorded top discus mark for the Huskies and fifth best mark in the NCC when he notched a 147’4” toss in a sixth place effort at the Cobber Invite…one of four SCSU throwers to make the NCC honor roll in the hammer with 128’6” throw at the Division II challenge…set eighth best NCC mark in the javelin with 160’2” mark at the Macalester Twilight, where he finished fourth.
High School: 2006 graduate of Mora High School…coached by Joe Ferraro…four sport high school athlete…earned four letters in track & field en route to a conference championship, section championship, and fifth place state meet finish…career best marks were 48’9” in the shot put and 158’ in the discus…won four letters as well on the ice and was a All-Conference hockey player…two-time letter winner in cross country where he also made the All-Conference team…earned one letter on the football field and was All-Conference Honorable Mention...also an Academic All-Conference honoree.
Personal: Son of Keith and Valerie Raivo of Brook Park, Minnesota…lists twice competing at the state championship meet as his greatest sports thrill…also enjoys fishing and golfing…undeclared in a major.
