2008: Two top-five finishes of indoor campaign were fifth in the 60-hurdles (9.73) at the Husky Open and fourth in the high jump (1.65m) at the SCSU Open…posted a pair of top-five showings in outdoor season as well, tying for fifth at St. Thomas Invite in the high jump (5’8”) and fourth at the Herschel Neil Meet in the decathlon (4,791)…won the 1500-meter (5:16.94), highlighting his Herschel Neil performance…indoor season brought top-11 marks in three different events, that included: ninth in 1000-meter (2:57.31) at SCSU Open, 10th in long jump (5.51m) at the Husky Open and 11th in the pentathlon (2,784) at the NCC Championships…
2007: Ran the 400-meter at the NCC outdoor championships in time of 55.70, posting fasted time of the season…recorded season best mark in the 200-meter (24.63) at the Drake Alternative finishing 21st …also finished 17th in the 400-meter (58.75) in the same meet…at Indoor NCC Championships finished 13th in the 500-meter (1:15.17)…at Husky Open ran best time in the 200-meter (25.24) finishing 24th…recorded best 400-meter time (53.59) at the MSU open.
High School: 2005 graduate of El Shaddai/Medford High School…coached by Kevin Werk…earned two letters in track & field while being named All-Conference twice…as a junior earned the Most Points award and as a senior earned the earned the Most Points and Big Stud/MVP awards…holds school records in the 300 hurdles and 4x200 relay…conference champion in the long jump and 4x200 as a junior…conference and sub-section champion in the 300 hurdles as a senior…won two letters in basketball and earned the Hustle and defensive player of the year awards…three-time letter winner and two-time All-Conference performer in football.
Personal: Son of Robert and Naomi Jirele of Medford, Minnesota…lists his father and basketball coach as those with the greatest influence on his career…greatest sports thrill was winning conference in the long jump after being ranked eighth coming in…undeclared in a major.
