MEN'S TENNIS: Western New Mexico Edges SCSU in NCAA Regional Action

Sartell, Minn. - Western New Mexico University gained a 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State University in second action of the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Central Regional match, which was played at Sartell High School in Sartell, Minn. on Saturday, May 9. The victory improves WNMU's record to 14-11 on the season, and it allows the Mustangs to advance to the 2009 NCAA Division II men's championship finals on May 13-16 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Huskies finish their season with a 25-3 overall record, which is the most victories posted by a SCSU team in a single season. This also marked the ninth consecutive season that the Huskies have advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament and the second time that they have served as regional hosts.
In doubles play, SCSU gained a win at first doubles as Mike Master and Wojciech Batorski won 9-7. WNMU won the remaining two matches in doubles play, and also gained wins at second singles, fourth singles and sixth singles before play was halted with the Yellowjackets leading 5-1.
