St. Cloud State University women's tennis coach Jerry Anderson was named the 2009 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coach of the Year.

Anderson led the Huskies to the 2009 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team tournament title earlier this season, and most recently his players won titles at second singles, third singles, fourth singles, sixth singles, second doubles and third doubles at the NSIC Individual Tournament on May 2-3, in Minneapolis.

In 2009, the Huskies set a team record for most victories in a season with a 26-8 overall record.  The Huskies posted a 13-1 record in play against conference teams this season.  SCSU received a bid to the NCAA Division II tournament as one of the top two seeds in the Central Region.  On May 8-9, the Huskies will host NCAA regional play at Sartell High School.  SCSU will play the winner of the first round match between Minnesota State Mankato and Montana State-Billings at 1 p.m. on May 9.  The winner of this match will then advance to the NCAA Division II finals in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

This marks Anderson's fourth season as the SCSU women's tennis head coach.  He also serves as the head coach of the SCSU men's tennis team, and is in his 12th season as head coach of the men's team.  A first-year member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Huskies also won North Central Conference championships in 1991, 1990, 1988, 1987 and 1985.

Anderson was joined in the NSIC spotlight by junior Jacquelyn Peterson (Staples-Motley H.S.), who earned All-NSIC First Team honors.  Teammates junior Kelly Freese (St. Cloud/Cathedral) and junior Dawn Olsen (Rosemount/Eastview) were named to the All-NSIC Second Team, while sophomore Kayla Lenz (Pequot Lakes/H.S.) was named All-NSIC Honorable Mention.

Doll placed third at first singles at the 2009 NSIC Individual Tournament, while Olsen grabbed first place honors at second singles and Freese won the top spot at third singles.  Lenz completed the singles title run with top NSIC honors at fourth singles.

In doubles competiton, Doll and Freese were named to the All-NSIC First Team at first doubles, while Olsen and teammate Kristie Eull (St. Michael/St. Michael-Albertville H.S.) earned All-NSIC Second Team honors for their title run at second doubles this season.
