WOMEN'S TENNIS: Huskies Win NSIC Team Tournament

Minneapolis, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team (26-8) captured first place at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team tournament on April 26, with a convincing 5-1 victory over downstate rival Minnesota State Mankato (12-10) at the Baseline Tennis Club in Minneapolis.
The victory also provided the Huskies with the league's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division II tournament.
The Huskies earned victories at second and third doubles. At second doubles, Dawn Olsen and Kristie Eull won an 8-3 victory and Kayla Lenz and Tanya Halloran scored an 8-4 win at third doubles. The first doubles team of Kelly Freese and Jacquelyn Doll fell by an 8-1 margin.
SCSU's Dawn Olsen carded a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles over MSU's Sarah Madigan, and then Kayla Lenz posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles. To ice the victory, Samantha Boushek scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over Carly Hiedeman at sixth singles. The remaining matches were not completed since the Huskies had clinched the win at 5-1.
SCSU will continue the 2009 season on May 2-3 with the NSIC Individual Tournament, which will also be held at the Baseline Tennis Club in Minnepolis. The club is located on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Listed below are the complete results of today's championship dual match against Minnesota State Mankato.
