SCSU hosted the NCAA Division II North Central Region Tournament in 2005, and won a first round match over CU-Colorado Springs. In 2006, SCSU gained a first round NCAA Tournament win over Truman State and the Huskies now own a 2-9 record in NCAA Tournament play. In 2009 SCSU again hosted the first round of NCAA Tournament play.
Anderson begins his seventh season as the women’s tennis coach at SCSU in 2012. In his first season as the women's coach in 2006, Anderson posted a 12-10 record and helped the Huskies to a third place finish at the NCC Championships. In 2007, SCSU placed second at the NCC Championships and charted an impressive 19-10 record. 2008 saw the Huskies record a second straight second place showing at the NCC Tournament, posting a 19-8 overall mark.
The 2009 season saw the SCSU women's tennis team move to the NSIC and win its’ first-ever Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. SCSU charted a school record 26 wins in 2009, and went 13-1 in the always rugged NSIC. The Huskies went on to earn an NCAA Tournament bid, and they also hosted first-round play in the 2009 NCAA Division II Tournament. For his efforts, Anderson gained NSIC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year honors.
SCSU Women's Team Hits New Heights in 2010
2010 saw the SCSU women’s tennis team reach new heights. The team finished with a 23-7 record and secured a second straight NSIC title with a big 5-2 win over previously unbeaten Augustana College in the championship match. This marked the second NSIC title in the team’s first two years in the conference. Receiving another NCAA bid the team hosted the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year. With a 5-0 win over Mesa State in the NCAA Regional Championship match the team represented St. Cloud State University with the first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships (“Sweet 16”) in Orlando, Florida.
The victory also marked Coach Anderson’s 100th win on the women’s side. The team was also awarded the ITA All-Academic Team Award for the second straight season. Anderson currently owns a 118-53 career record through his first six seasons at SCSU.
