The Amber Alexander Story
2008-09: First Year...became an All-American her rookie season, placing fifth in the 200 medley relay at the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships…also qualified for the NCAA’s in the 100 breaststroke and the 400 medley relay…Alexander was the winner of 13 events her first year as a Husky…she set a new school record in the 50 breaststroke on Nov. 1 with a time of 30.84…she was also a member of the 200 medley relay that had the top score of the season in 1:44.16, which also marks a new school record…participated in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM individually in 2008-09…set a new pool record in the 50 breast on Nov. 1 at SCSU’s Aquatic Center…member of the 200 medley relay that set a new pool record at MSU Moorhead (Nemzek Pool) and the 200 medley relay that set a new pool record at the Carleton meet (Thorpe Pool)…tabbed a new meet record at the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic on Dec. 5 with a time of 1:06.29 in the 100 breast.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2008 graduate of Minot High School…coached by Dan Hinton and Kathy Aspas…four-time swimming letter winner…named rookie of the year…grabbed All-State honors…in her senior year, her 200 medley relay received High School All-American honors...holds the North Dakota state record in the 50 meter breaststroke…Honor Roll member.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Steve Alexander and Connie Feist…lists her coach Kathy Aspas as the person with the greatest influence on her career…says winning state with her high school team four years in a row is her greatest sports thrill…undeclared on a major.
