The Matt Youngers Story
2009-10: Youngers’ season highlights include a 100-breaststroke time of 1:04.71 and a 200-IM time of 2:00.28.
2008-09: Junior season … competed in nine events throughout the season … worked mostly in the fly, breast and IM events … at the Northern Sun Championships earned fourth place honors in the 400 IM with a season high 4:12.09, fifth place honors in the 1650 free with a 17:49.18, and sixth place accolades in the 200 fly with a 2:05.45 … in prelims of the 200 fly at the Northern Sun Championships, broke the two minute barrier for the first time all season with a 1:58.80 … season high in the 200 breast was 2:12.52 set on Feb. 7.
2007-08: Was an All-Conference performer in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.42)...was an All-NCC Honorable Mention in the 400 IM (4:15.48), 200 fly (1:59.91) and 1650 free (17:44.96)…swam to a second place finish in the 500 free at the St. John’s meet with a time of 5:14.37…touched the wall second against Carleton in the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.86…also swam in the 200 and 400 medley relays along with the 200 and 400 IM.
2006-07: First year...placed seventh in 200 yard IM in season opening meet...also seventh in 100 yard butterfly at opening dual...at SCSU Invite II on 11/11/2006 placed fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke and 200 yard butterfly, and was member of fourth place 400 yard medley relay...member of 14th place 800 yard freestyle relay at University of Minnesota Invite on 11/18/2006...placed 11th in 200 yard butterfly at Carthage College Invite on 12/1 and 12/2/2006...at St. Johns/St. Bens dual on 1/19/2007 was member of third place 400 yard medley relay and placed fourth in 1000 yard free...at South Dakota on 1/19/20007 took second in 200 meter butterfly with a time of 2:23.80.
HIGH SCHOOL : 2006 graduate of Rochester Century High School in Oronoco, Minnesota…four-time USB State Champion.
PERSONAL: Parents are Dave and Ellen Youngers of Oronoco, Minnesota…plans to go into engineering…names Joe Mauer as his favorite sports personality.
