The Joel Gregory Story
2010-11: Gregory was a part of the 400 free relay which tabbed the squad’s fastest mark in 2010-11, touching the wall in 3:07.30…named team captain for 2011-12 season…voted Husky of the Year… sparked the Huskies in seven events this season, including a personal best time of :47.88 in the 100 free (2/19/11)…also swam legs on the 800 free relay and 400 medley relay.
2009-10: Gregory highlighted his season with a 100-free time of 0:49.38 seconds and a 100-fly time of 0:55.68.
2008-09: First year … competed in nine meets throughout the season, swimming the free and fly events … also competed in all five relay events, which included second place finish in the 200 free relay (1:33.87) against St. Olaf … at the Carthage Invite on Dec. 5 & 6 set career highs in the 50 free (23.53) and the 200 free (1:52.80) … in his final meet of the season at the Minnesota Challenge set career highs in the 100 free (50.32) and the 100 fly (55.69).
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned five letters for coach Pete Spengler at Rocordi High School…was Wendy’s High School Heisman winner and Rocori’s Outstanding Senior Athlete award winner…earned numerous Central Lakes All-Conference nods…a two-time MVP in the pool, he earned a trip to the Minnesota State Tournament with two relay teams, setting a school record in one…was a five-time letter winner in cross country and track as well, with multiple All-Conference awards in both…named team MVP in track…earned President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Student of Excellence and Academic Achievement awards en route to being named Rocori’s salutatorian.
PERSONAL: Son of Dennis and Barbara Gregory…lists Brad Baner as the person with the biggest influence on his career…greatest sports thrill is helping get two relay teams to state and setting a new school record in one of those…enjoys biking triathlons, and reading in his spare time…plans an accounting major.
