The Joe Palmersten Story
2009-10: Palmersten’s season highlights include a 0:29.08 50-breaststroke time and a 100-backstroke time of 0:53.87.
2008-09: Sophomore season … competed in nine meets throughout the season … swam mainly the freestyle and breaststroke events … competed twice in the 200 IM, and in his first career appearance earned his first career win with a 2:02.63 at the St. John’s Dual on Jan. 16 … swam to runner-up honors at the Northern Sun Championships with a career best 2:11.68 performance in the 200 breast … also set two more career highs at the Northern Sun Championships with third place tallies in the 500 free (4:51.64) and the 1000 free (10:08.38) … all three marks were also the best times for SCSU in 2008-09.
2007-08: Swam in the 100 and 200 breast and 100 fly at a majority of his meets…also swam on 200 and 400 medley relay teams…recorded a second place finish in the 100 breast with a time 1:02.19 against St. John’s
HIGH SCHOOL: 2007 graduate of St. Cloud Tech High School…coached by Sandy Hanson…five time letter winner in the high school pool…was a section and conference champion…also named MVP…was a scholar athlete in high school.
PERSONAL: Son of Lou and Pam Palmersten of St. Cloud, Minnesota…lists God and Eric Blake as the people with the greatest influence on his career…greatest sports thrill was setting a record at Buffalo in the 100 breaststroke…when not swimming he enjoys church, videogames, movie, canoeing, camping, and board games…undeclared on a major.
