The Joe Burns Story
2010-11: Had a remarkable freshman collegiate season…set a new school record in the men’s 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:32.94, which marked a national B-cut time…tabbed a conference title at the 2011 Midwestern Collegiate Championships, swimming the first led of the men’s 200 free relay…also competed in five individual events, including the 50 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 IM and 100 back…led the Husky squad with top times of :21.50 in the 50 free, :24.10 in the 50 fly and :52.51 in the 100 fly…also participated in the 400 free relay and 400 medley relay during his rookie stint at SCSU.
High School: Graduated from Minot High School in 2010…coached by Jake Solper…four-time letterwinner in swimming…team captain…helped lead his MHS Magician squad to the 2010 team State Championship…2009 State Champion in the butterfly…named 2010 WDA Conference Swimmer of the Year…voted his team’s Most Valuable Swimmer.
Personal: Lists favorite sports personality as Dagny Knutson…son of Clay and Faye Burns of Minot, N.D. …says Ken Disher has had the most influence on his career…plans to major in pre-chiropractic at St. Cloud State…enjoys riding his bike and snowboarding in his free time.
