The Elizabeth Barbee Story
2008-09: Sophomore season... Barbee swam in seven events, including the 100 free, 200 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast and the 200 IM…tallied the team’s 10th best time of the season in the 50 fly, touching the wall in 29.91 on Oct. 18.
2007-08: First year…first career win came on Oct. 27 as the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay that finished in 3:41.54 and helped the Huskies to a meet sweep of UW-Eau Claire (180-63) and UW-Stevens Point (144.40-95.50)…relay time was also her best of the season…highest individual finish came earlier in the same meet when she placed second in the 100 free with a 56.21…season and career high in the 100 free came in the final meet of the season on Feb. 9 and the Minnesota Challenge when she broke the 56 second mark for the first time with a 55.84 to finish in ninth place…consistently posted improving times in the 50 free with her season/career best also coming in the final meet when she posted a 25.95…also in final meet posted career high in the 100 fly with a 1:02.96.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2007 graduate of Arrowhead High School…coached by Bob Jenkins…four time letter winner on the swim team where she attained All-American status…was a five time Wisconsin state champion…also a member of the track team.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Bruce and Lori Barbee of Hartland, Wisconsin…lists Steve Bowman as the person with the greatest influence on her career…says winning her five state titles was her greatest sports thrill…nursing major at SCSU.
