The Bob Simson Story
2010-11: Had a sensational collegiate rookie season…voted Co-Freshman of the Year for the Huskies… was a member of the men’s 200 medley relay, which charted a new school record with a time of 1:32.94… the St. Cloud native also posted six individual first place finishes during his rookie campaign, including conference championships in the 100 back (:51.80) and 200 back (1:54.84) which earned Simson the MCC Rookie of the Year accolade…posted national B-cut times in the 100 back (:51.80) and 200 IM (1:56.71)…also competed in the 200 free, 50 back and 400 IM…led the Husky squad with top times in the 50 back (:26.05), 100 back (:51.80), 200 back (1:54.84) and 200 IM (1:56.71)…swam legs in the 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.
High School: Graduated from nearby St. Cloud Technical High School in 2010…coached by Dan Eckberg…three-sport athlete for the Tigers…lettered six times in swimming…a three-time team MVP…team captain…Central Lakes Conference Champion…holds the school records in the 100 back (54.46) and 200 IM (2:03.21)…All-Conference and All-Section swimmer…three-time letterwinner in soccer…helped lead his team to the Section championship…school record holder in the 4x800 medley relay…lettered three times in track and field.
Personal: Son of Dale and Cyndi Simson of St. Cloud, Minn. …says his swimming coach Dan Eckberg has had the greatest influence on his career…member of the National Honor Society.
