The Aubrey Welp Story

2009-10: Welp’s season highlights include a 500-free time of 5:22.89 and a 100-fly time of 1:09.50.

2008-09: Junior season … appeared in 11 meets throughout the season … most action came in the distance free events … first win came on Jan. 16 in the 1000 free with a 11:02.97 tally … placed sixth at the Northern Sun Championships in the 1000 free with a season best 10:41.84 … best mark in the 1650 free was a 17:59.75 at the Northern Sun Championships … set another season high at the Northern Sun Championships with a 5:15.63 in the 500 free…voted team’s Co-Most Improved.

2007-08: Named to the NCC Commissioners Academic Honor Roll…posted lone win of the season on 1/25 in a 144.5-97.50 meet win over Carleton College when she touched the wall first in the 1000 free (11:13.15)…just one week prior claimed a runner-up tally in the 1650 free (18:50.67) as part of a 171-91 Husky win over St. Olaf…at the NCC Championship meet set new personal bests in each event she raced including the 1000 free (11:03.61), the 200 free (2:01.79), the 500 free (5:22.43) and the 1650 free (18:41.06).

2006-07: First year...swam the 1000 and 1650 free.

HIGH SCHOOL : 2006 graduate of North High School in Des Moines, Iowa...four-time letter winner in swimming...named MVP, 2nd team All-State, District Swimmer of the Year, team captain, and Athlete of the Year...named to Hall of Fame...holds both individual and relay school records...four-time letter winner in soccer...member of the National Council of Youth Leadership and National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: Parents are Larry and Polly Welp of Des Moines, Iowa...physics major...high school coach was Lonny Kerman.
